Elusive Dreams

I remember those days

The ones when you were mine

The nights we were sure

We would stop time

When we had faith and believed

Anything could be achieved

We knew we loved deeply

But the road caved steeply

And when we came to again

We watched for the next bend

And we were happy forever

Because nothing else was better

In our own parallel universe

Yet we inherited the curse

The brood of lust and lies

Consuming everything with their eyes

Killed us, slowly eating away

At every true love we wanted to stay

And we broke promises, dashed our dreams

Upon decievingly gentle flowing streams

But together we pressed on

Assured that we weren't wrong

If only we had known

The Hurt we'd feel

Would soon be shown

Where did we go?

It came on so fast

But we stumbled so quickly

Hitting the all-time low

How did we become

So entirely undone

I remember those days

The ones when you were mine

The nights we were sure

We would stop time

What happened to faith?

Why did we give up the race?

Tonight we're singing out loud

Darling, we were so wrong

To trust anyone but our God.
